Comments on the proposed Awatea St stadium model and design
» Worse still, a stadium would drain the kitty. Artbeat Column by Peter Entwisle, Port Daniel Press, www.portdanielpress.com. Published in the Otago Daily Times, 29 Sep 2008.
» Heritage matters: Art student Elizabeth Gordon’s reaction to rate-payer money being spent on a new stadium: Dunedin is full of heritage gems but I doubt that the people who designed the proposed new rugby stadium were interested in integrating it into the character of the city as it looks like an overgrown oyster. A lot of people, even supporters of the stadium, are against council plans to provide tens of millions of dollars of rate-payers money for a new stadium. That includes me. I think the reputation of ‘ the House of Pain’ should be built on, not squandered and I would prefer to see Carisbrook Stadium spruced up. Read about the work on Elizabeth Gordon’s website.
Dunedin City Councillors’ answers to ‘Risky basket’ questions
Recently, three Dunedin City Councillors, Dave Cull, Chris Staynes and Kate Wilson, expressed their concern about the City’s involvement in funding the proposed Awatea St Stadium in an opinion piece in the Otago Daily Times (21.8.08). We wrote to the councillors and posed the questions raised in the opinion piece, hoping to discover their current thinking on these issues. Here we present the councillors’ answers.
